2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website or app stores on your device. We also use similar technologies — such as browser local storage and session storage — to remember choices, keep you signed in, or store preferences.

These technologies work in broadly the same way: they let the marketing site and app recognise your browser or device across visits or during a session. We use them on the SERPscope marketing website and in the SERPscope app where needed to provide and secure the service.

3. Why we use them

We use cookies and similar storage for three main reasons:

Essential functionality: to keep the site and app working — for example, maintaining login sessions, remembering settings, and storing your cookie consent choice.
Security and protection: to help protect against abuse, bots, and unauthorised access. Our hosting and security providers may set cookies or similar identifiers as part of this.
Analytics (optional): on the marketing site only, to understand how pages are used. Analytics are only enabled after you accept them in our cookie banner.

The SERPscope app may rely on browser storage and session data to function correctly. We do not use non-essential analytics or marketing cookies unless you have made a clear choice to accept them.

4. Cookie types

Strictly necessary: Required for the site and app to function — for example, session and authentication data, security cookies, essential preferences, and your consent record. Under UK law, these do not require consent, though you can block them in your browser (some features may then not work).
Analytics: Optional. On the marketing site we may use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how pages are used. GA4 is not loaded and its cookies are not set until you accept analytics in our cookie banner. If you reject analytics, GA4 does not load.
Marketing: We do not currently use marketing or advertising cookies on the SERPscope marketing site or app. We do not currently use advertising pixels or behavioural advertising cookies.

Our marketing site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may set security and performance-related cookies as part of protecting and delivering the site. We do not control every cookie Cloudflare sets, but they are listed in the table below.

5. Cookies and storage we use

The table below lists the main types of cookies and browser storage we use. Some preferences and consent choices are stored in browser local storage rather than cookies. Exact cookie names and durations may change as providers update their systems.

Google Analytics: If you accept analytics on the marketing site, we load GA4 after your consent. Rejecting analytics means the GA4 script and its cookies are not loaded. We aim to respect your choice, but no cookie-blocking approach is perfect — for example, if you previously accepted analytics, cookies may remain until you clear them in your browser.

6. Consent and controls

On the marketing site, we show a cookie banner where you can accept or reject optional analytics. Your choice is saved in browser local storage so you are not asked on every page load. You can change your mind at any time using "Cookie settings" in the site footer, which reopens the banner.

You can also control or delete cookies and site data through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block or allow cookies for specific sites. Blocking essential cookies or browser storage may affect functionality such as login sessions or saved preferences.

The SERPscope app does not show the marketing-site cookie banner. Essential session and authentication storage in the app is required for the service to work.

7. Third-party services

We use trusted third-party providers to host, secure, and operate SERPscope. These providers may set cookies or use browser storage as part of delivering their services. They operate under their own privacy and cookie policies. We do not allow these providers to use your data for their own independent marketing to you.

Cloudflare: hosts the marketing site and may set security and performance-related cookies when you visit.
Google Analytics: optional analytics on the marketing site, loaded only if you accept analytics cookies.
Stripe: processes payments in the app. Stripe may use cookies or similar technologies when you interact with payment flows.
Authentication and security providers: the app may rely on third-party services for sign-in, session management, and security. These may set session cookies or equivalent storage.

Third-party providers and their practices may change as we improve the service.
